Tomorrow you are going to Thailand for a whole year.
You're 16 now. I recognize that this is a rite of passage. You may not know that this is the very end of your childhood...but I do.
So this week has been spent doing all the things I am supposed to do. Driving you to appointments, helping you to sort out your belongings, answering mom questions, making you sushi, watching anime with you, combing your hair one last time.
You will be far more resilient and capable when you come back to me, but right now all I can see is the little boy who so very proudly threw wet toilet paper all over my bathroom.
Most parents have to throw their nestlings out of the tree, but in your case, you've chosen to take a giant leap, and it makes me very proud to be your mom.
I hope you really enjoy your time in Thailand! I know I did :D
