Everyone has a story to tell. How about you? November is the month I spend a whole month doing nothing but what I love best. Writing. Talking to people that only exist in my head is so fun! Naturally my mother encourages this. And I spend a generous amount of time encouraging others to write. Right now I really should be learning how to use Scribus. I've got a book to format for print and I've been failing miserably at that lately so naturally I am avoiding the whole thing to come talk to you. The person who exists...but that I can't see...
And therein lies my pitch. I'm sure you have people you don't see, that may or may not exist. You talk to them, in your head. You have FABULOUS conversations. So Delay, Avoid, Shirk, Evade, Slack Off.... and write down those conversations. Put someone on hold, write that report after lunch, reschedule that meeting for tomorrow, recode that financial program in fifteen minutes.
Create someone or something. Recreate a scene in which you participated. A coffee shop, an argument, even that lovely conversation you had with Gramma when she was still alive.
The nice thing about #NaNoWriMo is that you write for you, not for anyone else. You don't have to publish or show anything to anyone if you don't want to. The point is that there is a story to tell, and it is yours to tell. Everyone can be a writer.
Go to the NaNoWriMo site: http://nanowrimo.org/ and create a profile. Collect some friends, have some fun. Feel free to add me to your friends list! ( S0rceress0 ) I will encourage you exactly the amount you want. Do you want daily encouragement? Weekly? Friendly? Or would you like me to challenge you as a writer? I can do that.
